New Vice President of Institutional Advancement Troy Horine has taken over in the wake of Tom Borrego’s resignation at the position this summer.
Horine, who was previously employed at Newman University from 1982 to 1986, will oversee alumni relations, marketing, communication and archives.
“It’s about institutional memory,” Horine said. “I feel like what we do here makes an impact.”
From 1982 to 1986, Horine helped organize the first capital campaign for the university.
Since then, he has been employed at Butler University, Creighton University, Washington University in Saint Louis and Saint Louis University.
“I feel like the most gratifying thing is raising money for student scholarships,” Horine said. “I support our mission.”
Horine, who attended high school at Bishop Carroll, said he is glad to be back in Wichita again.
While he was unable to disclose details of upcoming fundraising plans, he has a track record of success in the field, helping raise $80,000 for Washington University in Saint Louis while he was there from 2006 to 2008.
Horine graduated from Kansas State University in 1980 and earned his master’s in business from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
President Noreen Carrocci said in a press release that she and the rest of the faculty welcome Horine to the team.
