Students suggest activities to fall for

For all you country fans out there, Carrie Underwood is coming to town!

This award-winning superstar is launching her fall “Blown Away” tour on Oct. 1 in Saskatoon, Calif. She will be touring North America and making a stop here in Wichita Oct. 27 at Intrust Bank Arena.

If you are a Carrie fan, you know that she just recently debuted her new album “Blown Away,” already a huge success. With many hits to her name, such as “Good Girl” and “Cowboy Casanova,” Underwood is set to tour North America.

Special guest Hunter Hayes will be putting on a show himself, opening for Underwood. Hayes is a young success. You might have heard his most famous songs “Wanted” and “Storm Warning” on country radio.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of country’s rising stars. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $43.50 to $63.50. They may be purchased at selectaseat.com or by calling 316-755-7328.

October is usually filled with different events that can entertain people from all walks of life.

But there are three events that are highlighted on my calendar.

The first of these is for all my comedy fans in search of laughter and a good time.

The Intrust Bank Arena will be hosting Larry the Cable Guy at 8 p.m. Friday. If you love comedy, this is a must-see event.

Tickets cost $43.75. People can purchase the tickets at the door but I suggest you order them online to avoid lines. Tickets can be purchased online at intrustbankarena. com.

Second on my list: This one is for my sporty side, and I think that every fan of basketball, regardless of team, will enjoy this event.

Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Dallas Mavericks, led by Dirk Nowitzki, at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Intrust Bank Arena.

I’ve found that the cheapest way to obtain tickets is through tickets-center.com, with prices ranging from $39 to $96. Tickets are going fast.

The Intrust Bank Arena is located at 500 E. Waterman St.

My last upcoming event is for all my thrill-seekers and people who enjoy the feeling of fear.

The Field of Screams has to be the best haunted house attraction I have ever experienced. The costumes may be fake, but your terror certainly will not be. Check it out at 4055 N. Tyler Road.

Regular admission is $20 to $40 depending on what feature you want. The $40 ticket is the combo pack, which includes a “zombie hunt.” The Field of Screams is finally allowing patrons to purchase tickets online, which I would suggest because the lines tend to get a bit crazy. You will probably be in line for about 30 minutes to an hour. Tickets can be purchased online at scaryprairiepines.com

Another great haunted house attraction to visit is The Isle of Screams, located in O.J. Watson Park, 3022 S. McLean Blvd.

The Isle of Screams is the cheaper of the two haunted houses, but it is still very well done in my opinion. Regular admission is $15 but if you want to include the “monster quest” it will be $20. You can go to the park and buy tickets at the door or order them online at scaryprairiepines. com.
