Hungry? There's no shortage of food at Newman events

By Vantage Staff

If there’s one thing Newman University has lots of, it’s opportunities to enjoy free or cheap food. Nearly every day of the week, there’s a cultural club sharing their cuisine or an event that tries to to lure participants with something to eat. Here’s a look at some of the eating opportunities coming up over the next few weeks:

Asian Student Association food sale, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Fugate Student Center: This newly re-formed club is raising money by selling fried rice, egg rolls and boba tea.

Jets for Life Baked Potato Bar fundraiser, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 24, Dugan Library Atrium: The Jets for Life club will sell baked potatoes for $5 apiece and will offer toppings including green onions, bacon, barbecue sauce, shredded chicken, cheese and sour cream. A portion of the money the club raises will go to A Better Choice Pregnancy Care Center.

Lunch and Learn Baked Potato Bar, noon Oct. 22, Alumni Center: Isabel Porres will offer a testimony about her senior theology project, and anyone who attends can eat from a baked potato bar for free.

Dia De Los Muertos, noon-4 p.m. Nov. 1, Dugan Gorges Conference Center: The Hispanic American Leadership Organization will put on a big Dia De Los Muertos event that will include candles, music and traditional foods being served.

Jet Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, Fugate Student Center: And don’t forget that Newman always celebrates the end of the week with free doughnuts. A different department on campus sponsors the doughnuts each week.
