Carve your Thanksgiving turkey and carve some time out of your schedule for some end-of-semester Newman events.
There is still a lot going on at Newman before we leave for Christmas break, and that includes lots of opportunities to get some free food and prizes. Here is a guide:
TODAY
Honors and Coding Club crossover event: There will be four interactive stations set up from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Dugan Library to help students learn more about artificial intelligence. Pizza and lemonade will be provided, and students who complete all four stations will earn 15 Breakfast and Bingo tickets. Students are asked to RSVP using the QR code found on the flyer posted around campus and in the student body GroupMe.
“Game Changer:” The Gaming Club is hosting a game show at 7 p.m. in the Performance Hall in DeMattias. The event will include three rounds — each with a different game — for audience members to participate in, and it will be the last event for students to earn Breakfast and Bingo tickets.
“The Chosen” Bible Study Night: Newman’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host its second Bible study night, where attendees will watch “The Chosen.” It will start at 7 p.m. in the Student Life Center.
FRIDAY
Sloppy Joes show: The Sloppy Joes improv team’s last show of the semester will start at 7 p.m. in the Jabara Flexible Theatre. The theme for the show is “The Bingo Game.” Admission is free, but attendees who wear their Sloppy Groupie T-shirts will get first pick of the front row seats. Shirts will be sold at the door for $15.
SUNDAY
Pilgrims of Hope choir concert: Newman’s Chorale and Troubadours will sing songs about God and hope at 7 p.m. in St. John’s Chapel in Sacred Heart Hall before hosting a reception in the Heritage Room with refreshments. Admission will be free, though donations for the Choir Program will be accepted.
DEC. 1
Paws for a Break: Rescue dogs will be on campus from noon to 2 p.m. in the Dugan Library and Student Center Foyer to help students de-stress before finals start.
Breakfast and Bingo: Breakfast food will be served at 5:30 p.m. in the Mabee Dining Center, and then, at 7 p.m., the Campus Activities Board will host bingo with prizes for students to win. Students can enter Breakfast and Bingo tickets that they have collected throughout the semester into a raffle for additional prizes, but students must be present to win.
