The Newman University Fine Arts Department recently performed a dinner-theatre style show titled “Death by Chocolate,” written by Paul Freed. This is a review of the Thursday showing, performed Oct. 11, which included an understudy substitution for Lady Riverdale.

Newman’s newest addition to its art collection has found its home on the first floor of the Bishop Gerber Science Center. “Mechanical Flag,” created by Luis Perez-Aguayo, was constructed from wood, paint and steel as a tribute to the Wichita city flag.

Bishop Eugene John Gerber, who died on Sept. 29 and was laid to rest at the Cathedral this week, was a particular influence at Newman University, said several members of the Newman community.
