Last minute V-day gifts from the Ty-Rade

By: Ty Wilson, Staff Writer

Picture this: it’s 10 at night on February 13, and you have yet to buy a Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other. The stores are all closed, and the options are thin. Lucky for you, I have been in this exact predicament before, and I know just what you need to impress your guy or gal on Valentine’s Day.

First, I would advise you to stop rummaging around your apartment for a re-gift idea and really think about what your special person might like. For example, I know my lady really likes pretty flowers and hand written notes. But if I can’t make it to the florist in time, I could gift her a fresh bottle of Ajax dish soap. It’s not flowers, but it’ll work in a pinch. Both are colorful and have a very distinct smell, chances are, she might even like the soap better.

As far as last minute gifts go, guys are much easier to pick out gifts for. Most of the time, men aren’t expecting too much, so any gift you give them they’ll appreciate, even if it’s a half-used scented candle that’s been collecting dust on your bookshelf. A good man will see the value in the burnt wax and know you care ever so deeply about him. It might even be a two-for-one if your Casanova has a particularly smelly room or house.

In the end, I’m sure your sweetheart will love the gift you pick out for them. Whether it’s the leg lamp from “A Christmas Story” or a Mexican sarape that’s been stuck in the back of your closet for months. A gift is a gift no matter how shiny or how expensive. To be extremely cliche, “It’s the thought that counts.”

So there you have it, the solution to your Valentine’s Day woes. Just follow your heart, and you won’t have to deal with Jeff Bezos and his army of package delivering drones.
