After the final putt dropped, the Newman’s men’s golf team finished out its season with a fourth-place finish at the MIAA Golf Championship, which happened last week in Jefferson City, Missouri.

It was the highest a Newman golf team has ever finished at the championship tournament.

The MIAA Championship was a three-day tournament, and the first round happened on April 13. During that round, the Jets finished sixth out of 11 teams and eight strokes off the top spot.

In the second round, the Jets found their step and finished with the second-best team score, moving up to fourth place.

In the final round, the Jets held their own to claim fourth spot.

Senior Braxton Muldoon finished the tournament in third place individually, earning all-tournament honors.First-year golfer Alphonse Hermansson took 14th place; sophomore, Tomas Asgeirsson finished in 16th place; junior Grant Delsart finished in 29th place; and senior Charlie Townsend finished in 39th place.

The Jets placed in the top 10 in seven of 12 tournaments this season. Four of those were top-four finishes. Their best results were two runner-up finishes at both the Pioneer Prairie Classic and the Newman Fall Invite.
