Fire department responds to waffle emergency

Four fire engines from the Wichita Fire Department responded to an alarm at Beata Hall at around 11:20 a.m. on Saturday morning. As the alarm sounded, residents filed out of the building, many still half asleep, wearing pajamas and hoodies. Firefighters were on the scene for only about 15 minutes before they realized that a burned waffle in a room had tripped the alarm and that all was well. Groggy residents then returned to bed or went in search of non-burned waffles in the dining center.
