RHA is hosting a Halloween Carnival

In lieu of Boo Bash, the Resident Hall Association will host a carnival for students on Halloween night.

RHA will be catering Chick-Fil-A and providing various snacks and drinks for students to enjoy while playing games for prizes.

Turner Middendorf, graduate assistant for resident life, said that RHA usually just hands out candy gift bags this time of year to students who live on campus, but this year, they decided to go above and beyond to host a party for all students.

“We’ll just be keeping score of certain amounts of the games and the highest scores will get prizes, whether that’s gift vouchers to the bookstore or candy,” Middendorf said.

Elena Cummings, RHA executive, said she’s excited for the event because it’s unlike any other event RHA has put on.

“We are going to have lots of Halloween-themed games such as pumpkin tic-tac-toe, pumpkin ring toss, a mystery box game and many others. We decided to do a carnival theme because when thinking about a fun event, carnivals tend to be around this time and you see mini ones at many of the pumpkin patches around Wichita.”

Cummings said she is excited for the new event.

“Something I am most excited about helping run the event is that it is not like any of the other events RHA has done in the past and offers many choices to please all. I believe the students will really enjoy the life size games and the mystery box. We also will have prizes,” Cummings said.

Middendorf said costumes are welcomed but not required to attend the event.

“I think it’s gonna be really fun, hopefully a lot of people come out and enjoy it. I think it’ll be a really good time,” Middendorf said.

The party starts at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Halloween night, in the De Mattias Atrium.
