Friday is International Women’s Day, and the Newman University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is putting on a celebration that will include three featured speakers.

“The goals for Newman’s half-day program are to affirm women who are striving and thriving in their personal and professional lives, to motivate attendees to continue to strive through the example and information of the presenters, and to celebrate the awesomeness and role models that the presenters are for women, especially young women,” said Sister Therese Wetta, who helped organize the event.

Titled “Strong Women Boldly Building Dreams,” the event will happen from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Dugan Conference Center. The registration deadline was March 1.

Two of the three presenters are Newman alumni: Michelle Vann, founder and CEO of Vanntastic Solutions, graduated from Newman in 1996, and Teresa Lovelady, president and CEO at HealthCore Clinic, has two master’s degrees from Newman. The third presenter, Wendy Glick, is the former executive director of Wichita’s Catholic Charities and a member of the Newman Board of trustees.

“We selected these women because they are strong women building dreams but also because we believe they are such powerful role models for women at Newman” Wetta said.
