Newman’s sports teams have plenty of new faces this year, including some on the coaching side. Along with women’s basketball’s new co-head coaches, there are four new assistant coaches on campus this year.

The volleyball team welcomed Tanner Serowski as a new assistant coach this season. Serowski joins the Jets after playing at Erskine College in South Carolina. Since his playing days have ended, he has spent time coaching club volleyball in the Midwest.

The women’s soccer team also added a new face to the coaching staff: Michael Budnowski. Budnowski served as the Friends University head women’s soccer coach from 1990 to 2002. Previous to that Budnowski played for Newman’s men’s soccer team.

Victor Olorunfemi joined the men’s soccer coaching staff this season. Olorunfemi played Division I soccer at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and at the University of Dayton. He is currently pursuing his MBA from the University of Dayton while he coaches.

The Jets athletic performance staff also gained a new face. Brandon Strausser has been hired to assist head strength coach Hayden Jones. Brandon attended Otterbein University in Ohio and received his Master’s degree in exercise science from Florida Atlantic University. He has worked with many Olympic and Division I athletes prior to coming to Newman.
